On the dial, you will notice at the “7” position there is a retrograde type indicator and at the 5 o’clock position is another retrograde indicator. The “7” indicator shows how far the first (standard tourbillon carriage) is in its 60-second rotation. The 5 o’clock indicator shows how far along its second axis (the outer carriage) is.
It’s easier to see working than to try to describe it!
If this timepiece were only made to be art, that would have been fine. If it were made to be an instrument for the Orson Welles Time Machine, it would have succeeded. If it was produced to prove what Mr. Franck Muller, the “Master of Complications” could do, then it fulfilled its purpose. To own a Franck Muller timepiece is to own a watch that is of the same family as one of the many complications he has created. | | If Rolls Royce produced a few lesser-priced models for the above aver-age consumer, then most of those people would buy the car because of the legend, the history and the quality of the famous more “unobtainable” Rolls Royce.
If you were to judge Franck Muller from the standpoint of being a watch-maker or a collector of fine timepieces and mechanical art, then you would have to say that he is a genius and an artist. To be able to create the most complicated watch in the world each year, and still make watches available to fit just about any collector’s desires, then you would have to call Mr. Muller a marketing genius as well. You also have to give credit to the staff and artists that work for Franck Muller of Switzerland for their fantastic contributions to all that is produced there.
The “Revolution 2” has been in the works for many years – and it is not the first watch to use this type of “tourbillon – tourbillon.” Mr. Muller told me that there has been another “double tourbillon” (Note: these are my words) created and he mentioned the name of the man who created it, but I did not write it down.
When I initially saw “Revolution 2,” the first thing that came to mind was “scientific instrument.” This is the most precise looking device that I have ever seen. I could only imagine what the next evolution of the “Revolution Series” would be like.
